മലയാള ഭാഷയുടെ വളര്‍ച്ചയ്ക്കും സംരക്ഷണത്തിനുമായി ശ്രീ ശങ്കരാചാര്യ സംസ്കൃത സ‍ർവകലാശാല ഏര്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയ ഡോ. പ്രദീപൻ പാമ്പിരികുന്ന് സ്മാരക മാതൃഭാഷാപുരസ്ക്കാരം (2022) ഡോ. എം. പി. പരമേശ്വരന് നൽകുമെന്ന് സർവ്വകലാശാല അറിയിച്ചു.
മലയാളത്തിന്റെ വിജ്ഞാന പദവിക്ക് മുതൽക്കൂട്ടേകുന്ന നിരവധി സംഭാവനകള്‍ നൽകിയ ഇന്ത്യൻ ആണവ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനാണ് ഡോ. എം. പി. പരമേശ്വരൻ. ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനെന്ന നിലയിലും, വൈജ്ഞാനിക സാഹിത്യകാരൻ എന്ന നിലയിലും, ശാസ്ത്ര പ്രചാരകൻ എന്ന നിലയിലും അദ്ദേഹം നൽകിയ സംഭാവനകള്‍ ഏറെ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ടതാണ്. കേരള ഭാഷാ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് വിജ്ഞാന ഭാഷയുടെ രൂപീകരണത്തിനായി നടത്തിയ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളിൽ അദ്ദേഹം പങ്കാളിയായി. സാങ്കേതിക പദങ്ങളുടെ നിര്‍മ്മാണത്തിലും പാഠപുസ്തകങ്ങളുടെ നിര്‍മ്മാണത്തിലും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പങ്കാളിത്തം ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ്. വൈജ്ഞാനിക സാഹിത്യത്തിന് അക്കാദമി അവാര്ഡ് ലഭിച്ച ഡോ. എം. പി. പരമേശ്വരൻ മാതൃഭാഷയെ വൈജ്ഞാനിക ഭാഷയാക്കുന്നതിന് നൽകിയ നിസ്തുല സംഭാവനകള്‍ പരിഗണിച്ചാണ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് അവാര്ഡ് നൽകാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചത്. ഡോ. വി. ലിസി മാത്യു, ഡോ. പി പവിത്രൻ, ഡോ. സുനിൽ പി. ഇളയിടം, ഡോ. വത്സലൻ വി. എ, രജിസ്ട്രാര്‍ ഡോ. എം. ബി. ഗോപാലകൃഷ്ണൻ എന്നിവര്‍ അടങ്ങുന്ന അവാര്ഡ് കമ്മിറ്റിയാണ് ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പേര് ഐകകണ്ഠേന നിര്‍ദ്ദേശിച്ചത്. ഭാഷാ അവലോകന സമിതിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ നടന്ന ഭരണ ഭാഷാ വാരാചരണ സമാപന ചടങ്ങിൽ വെച്ച് നവംബർ 10 ന് വൈസ് ചാൻസലര്‍ ഡോ. എം. വി. നാരായണൻ അവാര്ഡ് ദാനം നിര്‍വഹിക്കും.
ഡോ. എം. പി. പരമേശ്വരന്റെ ഫോട്ടോ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണത്തിനായി ചേർത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
