മഹാശിവന്റെ താണ്ഡവതാളത്തിലെഴുതിയ ഒരു സ്തോത്രകൃതിയാണ്‌ ശിവതാണ്ഡവസ്തോത്രം. ഇതിലെ വാക്കുകളും അത് ധ്വനിപ്പിക്കുന്നപ്രതീതികളും അർത്ഥമറിയാതെ ചൊല്ലുന്നവനുപോലും ഒരു താണ്ഡവനടനാനുഭവം നൽകാൻപോന്നതാണ്‌. തന്നേയുമല്ല, സ്തോത്രകൃതികള്‍ക്ക് അതിന്റെ ഫലസിദ്ധി കൈവരാന്‍ അര്‍ത്ഥമറിഞ്ഞുതന്നെ ചൊല്ലണം എന്നനിര്‍ബന്ധവുമില്ല. പഞ്ചചാമരം എന്നവൃത്തത്തിലാണ്‌ ഇത്‌ എഴുതിയിട്ടുള്ളത്‌. 16 അക്ഷരങ്ങളുള്ള ഓരോവരിയും ഒരു ലഘുവിൽ തുടങ്ങി പിന്നെ ഒരുഗുരു പിന്നെ ഒരുലഘു എന്നക്രമത്തിൽപ്പോയി അവസാനം ഒരുഗുരുവിൽ ചെന്ന് അവസാനിക്കുന്നു. താണ്ഡവത്തിന്റെ സ്വാഭാവികതാളം ഇങ്ങനെ ഒന്നിടവിട്ട്‌ വരുന്ന ലഘുഗുരുക്കൾ നൽകുന്നു. പദങ്ങളിലെ പ്രാസവും വാൿവൈഭവവും താണ്ഡവപ്രതീതിയുമുളവാക്കുന്നു.
ചുക്കുമുളകുതിപ്പലി എന്നരീതിയില്‍ ഇടവിടാതെ എഴുതിയിട്ടുള്ള വാക്കുകളെ അര്‍ത്ഥമറിയാതെ ചുക്കുമു ളകുതി പ്പലി എന്ന് വായിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടും, പിന്നീട് ഓരോവാക്കിന്റെയും അര്‍ത്ഥം കണ്ടുപിടിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ വായിച്ചിരുന്നരീതി തെറ്റെന്ന് മനസ്സിലാക്കേണ്ടിവന്നത് കൊണ്ടും, സമാനരീതിയില്‍ തെറ്റിവായിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ചിലരെങ്കിലും ഈ ഭൂമിമലയാളത്തില്‍ കണ്ടേക്കാമെന്ന് തോന്നിയതുകൊണ്ടും, അവരില്‍ തല്പരരായവര്‍തന്നിലെ തെറ്റുതിരുത്തുവാന്‍ ഒരു നിമിത്തമാകുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് തെറ്റില്ലെന്ന് തോന്നിയതുകൊണ്ടും, മലയാളത്തില്‍ അന്വയാര്‍ത്ഥസഹിതം ഈ കൃതിയെക്കുറിച്ച് ആരെങ്കിലും എഴുതിയത് internet-ല്‍ കാണാത്തതുകൊണ്ടും, ഇങ്ങനെയൊരു പോസ്റ്റ് ഞാനിടുന്നു.
സ്തോത്രരചയിതാവ്
ഇത്‌ രാവണനാൽ രചിക്കപ്പെട്ടസ്തോത്രമാണെന്ന് കരുതപ്പെടുന്നതുകൊണ്ട്‌ രാവണനെക്കൂടി പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തുന്നത്‌ നന്നായിരിക്കും. വൈകുണ്ഠത്തിലെ ദ്വാരപാലകരായ അജയനും വിജയനും സനത്‌ കുമാരന്മാരുടെ ശാപത്താൽ മൂന്നുജന്മങ്ങൾ ഹിരണ്യാക്ഷൻ-ഹിരണ്യകശിപു, രാവണൻ-കുംഭകർണ്ണൻ, ശിശുപാലൻ-ദന്തവക്ത്രൻ എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഭൂമിയിൽ പിറക്കുകയും മൂന്നു ജന്മത്തിലും വിഷ്ണുവിനാൽ നിഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ട്‌ ശാപമോക്ഷം കൈവന്ന് തിരികെ വൈകുണ്ഠത്തിലെത്തുകയും ചെയ്തുവെന്നകാര്യം ആദ്യമേ ഓർമ്മിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ. ഇതില്‍ രാവണനൊഴികെ മറ്റാര്‍ക്കും കവി, പണ്ഡിതന്‍, ജ്ഞാനി എന്നിങ്ങനെ വിശേഷണങ്ങളും നല്‍കിവന്നിട്ടില്ല. ശിവന്റെ എക്കാലത്തെയും മികച്ചഭക്തനായി രാവണനെ കണക്കാക്കുന്നു. ഈ ഭക്തിയില്‍ പ്രസാദിച്ചാണല്ലോ ശിവന്‍ ചന്ദ്രഹാസം രാവണനു കൊടുക്കുന്നതും. വിശ്രവസ്സിന്റെ പുത്രനാണു രാവണൻ, സാമവേദിയാണു രാവണൻ. രാവണന്റെഭാഷ സംസ്കൃതമാണ്‌. ശിവനെയും ബ്രഹ്മാവിനെയും പ്രീതിപ്പെടുത്തി വരസിദ്ധി നേടിയവനാണ്‌ രാവണൻ. അതേസമയം വിഷ്ണുവിനോട്‌ ‘വിദ്വേഷഭക്തി‘ കാണിച്ച രാവണൻ.
മൂക്കും മുലയും ഛേദിക്കപെട്ട ശൂർപ്പണഖ സീതയേയും രാമനേയും കുറിച്ച്‌ പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ തനിക്ക്‌ എന്ന് വൈകുണ്ഠപ്രാപ്തി ഉണ്ടാകുമെന്ന് ചിന്തിച്ച രാവണൻ. ശൂര്‍പ്പഖാവിലാപം എന്ന ഭാഗത്ത് എഴുത്തച്ഛന്‍ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നത് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക:

അശോകവനിയിൽ ‘മായാ’സീതയെ ‘മാതൃ’രൂപേണ ഇരുത്തിയ രാവണൻ.ഇത്രയും എഴുതിയത് രാമനും രാവണനും ഒരുസാധാരണ കഥയിലെ നായക-പ്രതിനായകന്മാരല്ല, മറിച്ച് ദേവനും ദാസനും അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ ഭഗവാനും ഭക്തനും ആയിരുന്നു എന്നു സൂചിപ്പിക്കാനാണ്. രാവണനന്‍ ഒരു പണ്ഡിതനും ജ്ഞാനിയും കൂടിയായിരുന്നത്കൊണ്ടാണ് വിദ്വേഷഭക്തി ശീലിക്കാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞത്. ഈ സ്തോത്രത്തിലെതന്നെ അവസാനഭാഗങ്ങള്‍ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുകയാണെങ്കില്‍ ഒരു ശരാശരി രാവണസങ്കല്പത്തിനു ചേരാത്തവിധത്തിലാണ് അദ്ദേഹം ശിവനോട് പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിക്കുന്നത് എന്നുകാണാം.

ഡമഡ് ഡമഡ് എന്നിങ്ങനെ തുടർച്ചയായി ഡമരു ശബ്ദം പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കുമ്പോൾ ശിവന്റെ കാടുപിടിച്ച ജടയിലൂടെ ഊർന്നിറങ്ങിയ ഗംഗാപ്രവാഹത്തിനാൽ പവിത്രമാക്കപ്പെട്ട സ്ഥലത്ത് കഴുത്തിനെ അവലംബിച്ച് പൂമാലയെന്നപോലെ ഉഗ്രസർപ്പത്തേയും തൂക്കിയിട്ട് ഉഗ്രതാണ്ഡവം നടത്തുന്ന ശിവനേ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് മംഗളത്തെ തന്നാലും. ശിവന്റെ കഴുത്തിലെ പാമ്പ് ശിവന്റെ കാഴ്ചയിൽ മാലയും മറ്റൂള്ളവർക്ക് സർപ്പവും ആകുന്നു. ‘രജ്ജു-സർപ്പ ഭ്രാന്തി‘യിൽ കയറിൽ തെറ്റിദ്ധരിച്ചു കണ്ട പാമ്പിനെ കയറായിത്തന്നെ തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞവന് കയറ് വെറും കയറായും അത് മനസ്സിലാകത്തവന് അത് മനസ്സിലാകാത്തിടത്തോളം കാലമത്രയും മാത്രം അത് പാമ്പെന്നും തോന്നലുണ്ടാകുമെന്ന ശങ്കരസിദ്ധാന്തം രാവണൻ മറ്റൊരു തരത്തിൽ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. കയറിനു പകരം പൂമാലയായി. പിന്നെ രാവണൻ പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുന്നത് ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് മംഗളത്തെ പ്രദാനം ചെയ്യണേ എന്നാണ്. എനിക്കു മാത്രം തരണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞില്ല എന്നു കൂടി ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക.

ശിവന്റെ താണ്ഡവനടത്തിനിടക്ക് ശിവൻ കറങ്ങുമ്പോൾ ശിവന്റെ കടാഹം കണക്കെയുള്ള ജടയും കറങ്ങും, അതോടൊപ്പം അതിനുള്ളിലെ ദേവനദിയായ ഗംഗയും തിരിയും, നെറ്റിയിലേക്ക് ഉതിർന്നുവീഴുന്ന ജടാശകലങ്ങൾ ഇളകിയാടുന്ന മൂർദ്ധാവും, ധഗദ്ദകായെന്ന് കത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന പരന്നനെറ്റിത്തടത്തിലെ തിളക്കവും ഒരു കൊച്ചുചന്ദ്രക്കലചൂടിയ ശിരസ്സും കണ്ട് രാവണന് ക്ഷണംപ്രതി രതി തോന്നുന്നു. രതിയെന്ന വാക്കിന് ഇഷ്ടം, പ്രിയം, സന്തോഷം എന്നിങ്ങനെ വേറെയും അർത്ഥങ്ങളുണ്ട്.

ശിവനോട് ഏറ്റവും ചേർന്നതും മനോഹരിയും ഹിമവൽ പുത്രിയുമായ പത്നിയോടൊത്ത് ഉള്ള താണ്ഡവനൃത്തത്തിൽ ചക്രവാളങ്ങൾ പോലും നടുങ്ങുന്നു, സന്തോഷത്തിന്റെ അലയൊലികൾ മനസ്സിലേക്ക് വരുന്നു. ആ കൃപാകടാക്ഷം ഒന്നു മാത്രം മതി എത്രയും ദുർഘടമായതുപോലും തരണംചെയ്യുവാൻ അഥവാ ദുർഘടമായ ആപത്തിനെപ്പോലും മറികടക്കുവാൻ, ചിലപ്പോഴെങ്കിലും ദിഗംബരനായവന് ഈ മനോവിനോദനൃത്തം ചെയ്യണമെന്ന തോന്നലുണ്ടാകുന്നു.
