” ആ രണ്ടാം നമ്പർ ബെഡിലെ പേഷ്യന്റിനെ ഒന്നു ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചിക്കേണെ… അയാൾക്കൽപം ടെമ്പറേച്ചർ കൂടുതൽ കാണിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്” വൈകിട്ട് ഡ്യൂട്ടി കൈമാറുമ്പോൾ രമ സിസ്റ്റർ പറഞ്ഞത് പെട്ടുന്നവൾ ഓർത്തു. മെല്ലെ നീരീക്ഷണ വാർഡിന്റെ ഡോർ തുറന്ന് അകത്തേക്ക് നോക്കി. എല്ലാരും നല്ല ഉറക്കത്തിലാണെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു. തവളകളും ചീവിടുകള സംഗീതമൊരുക്കുന്ന ഏതോ നെൽപാടങ്ങളുടെ അരികിലാണ് താൻ നിൽക്കുന്നതെന്ന് അവൾക്ക് തോന്നി. അത്ര മാത്രം വൈവിദ്ധ്യ പൂർണ്ണമായിരുന്നു വിവിധ പിച്ചുകളിൽ താളമിടുന്ന കൂർക്കം വലികൾ!!
വാർഡിന്റെ അങ്ങേ തലയ്ക്കുള്ള രണ്ടാം നമ്പർ ബെഡുകാരനെ തേടിയിറങ്ങിയത് പുതിയ PPE കിറ്റിൽ ..രണ്ടാം നമ്പർ ബെഡിലെ രോഗിയുടെ അടുത്തെത്തിയപ്പോൾ അയാളുടെ ഫയൽ കൂടി കൈയിലെടുത്തിരുന്നു. മണി രണ്ടു കഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു, ബെഡിലെ പേഷ്യന്റിന് ഉറക്കം കറക്ടാവുന്നില്ലെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു. അയാൾ ഞരങ്ങിയും മൂളിയും തിരിഞ്ഞും ചരിഞ്ഞും മറിഞ്ഞും കിടക്കുകയാണ്. അവൾ അയാളുടെ കേസ് ഡയറി മറിച്ചു നോക്കി. അബു എന്നാണ് അയാളുടെ പേരെങ്കിലും കണ്ടിട്ട് സലിം കുമാറാണെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു. നല്ല മുഖ സാമ്യം!! പ്രവാസിയാണ്, ലോക്ക് ഡൗൺ തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ എത്തിയതാണു, സമ്പർക്ക പട്ടികയിൽ ആരുമില്ല!, എയറോഡ്രോമിൽ നിന്ന് നേരിട്ട് ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിൽ എത്തിയതാണെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു. അവൾ അയാളുടെ ടെംപറേച്ചർ ഒരിക്കൽക്കുടി നോക്കി … ഇല്ല പേടിക്കത്തക്ക അളവിൽ ചൂടില്ല. ഫയലിൽ ആദ്യ കൊവിഡ് ടെസ്റ്റ് നെഗറ്റീവാണന്ന് രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയതായും കണ്ടു.ഫയലിലെ കണക്കനുസരിച്ച് ഇപ്പോ ഇരുപത്തിയെട്ടു ദിവസം പൂർത്തീകരിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞ രിക്കുന്നു. രണ്ടാമത്തെ സിറം ഇന്നലെ എടുത്തു കാണണം, ഫയൽ കണ്ണോടിച്ചു നിൽക്കുമ്പോൾ ബെഡിൽ നിന്ന് ഒരു ഞരക്കം കേട്ടു, അയാൾ കൈ കാട്ടുന്നു.. അവൾ അരികിലേക്കു ചെന്നു.” ആ ലിസ്റ്റിൽ എന്റെ പേരുണ്ടോ” അയാൾ കുഴഞ്ഞ ശബ്ദത്തിൽ ചോദിച്ചു. ഉറക്കപിച്ചോടെയുള്ള ചോദ്യമാണെന്ന് അവൾക്ക് തോന്നി, അവൾ വെറുതെ അയാളെ നോക്കി പുഞ്ചിരിച്ചു… “മാലാഖയല്ലെ ? എനിക്കു മനസിലായി, നല്ല ആളുകളുടെ പേരുവിവരം കുറിക്കാൻ വന്നതല്ലേ” അയാൾക്ക് ചൂടു കൂടി വല്ല ഫിറ്റ്സും വന്നതായിരിക്കുമെന്ന് അവൾക്ക് ആദ്യം തോന്നി ,എന്നാലും അയാളെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കാൻ പറഞ്ഞു.” മാലാഖ തന്നെ.”അബു അല്ലേ?
അയാളുടെ ഫയൽ പരതുന്നതായി കാണിച്ചിട്ട് അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.” ആദമിന്റെ മകൻ അബു അല്ലേ? ഇതിലുണ്ട് !
“അയ്യോ അല്ല …. ഹൈദ്രോസിന്റെ മകൻ അബു” എന്റെ പേരു വന്നില്ലേ, ഞാനൊരുപാടു സഹായങ്ങൾ ഒക്കെ ചെയ്യുന്ന ആളാണെല്ലോ” അയാൾ ചുറ്റിനും എന്തോ പരതുന്നത് കണ്ടു. ഇതു നോക്കിയേ . അയാൾ കിടക്കക്കരുകിൽ സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്ന മൊബൈൽ നീട്ടി … “ഇതിൽ നിറയെ എന്റെ പ്രവർത്തികളുടെ ഫോട്ടോകളാ!” അയാളുടെ ഉന്മാദ അവസ്ഥയും കുഴഞ്ഞ ശബ്ദവും കണ്ടു അയാൾ ഉറങ്ങിയില്ലെങ്കിൽ കൊടുക്കാൻ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ഇൻജക്ഷൻ കൊടുത്തു മയക്കികിടത്തി. തിരിച്ചു നേഴ്സസ് സ്റ്റേഷനിൽ ചെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു കുറച്ചുനേരം ചിരിച്ചു.” നീ അയാളുടെ മൊബൈലും അടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു പോരുന്നോ ?. അപ്പോഴാണ് അയാളുടെ ഫോൺ തിരിച്ചവിടെ വെയ്ക്കാതിരുന്ന കാര്യം അവൾ ഓർമ്മിച്ചത്.
ഒരു കൗതുകത്തിന് അബുവിന്റെ മൊബൈലിലെക്ക് അവൾ കണ്ണോടിച്ചു. നിറയെ ഫോട്ടോകൾ കൂടുതലും സെൽഫികൾ ,അബുവിന്റെ സാമൂഹ്യ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളും സംഭാവനകളും വിവരിക്കുന്നവ!! ഇത് തെളിവായി കാണിക്കാനാകും അയാൾ കുറച്ചു മുമ്പ് ഫോൺ നീട്ടിയത് …അവൾക്ക് ചിരി വന്നു. പാവം !!! പക്ഷേ തൊട്ടടുത്ത ഫോട്ടോ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവളുടെ ചിരി മാഞ്ഞു… അയാൾ ഒരു വല്യമ്മച്ചിയേയും ഒരു യുവതിയേയും എടുത്തു കൊണ്ട് വെളളത്തിനു മേലെ നടക്കുന്നു. ആ വല്യമ്മച്ചിക്ക് തന്റെ അമ്മൂമ്മയുടെ ഛായയും യുവതിക്ക് തന്റെ ഛായയുമാണെല്ലോ..കഴിഞ്ഞ വെള്ളപ്പൊക്കം.
പിറ്റേന്ന് നീരീക്ഷണ കാലാവധി കഴിഞ്ഞു അബു പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവളും അയാളോടൊത്ത് ഒരു സെൽഫി എടുക്കാൻ മറന്നില്ല..’
