രാജ്യത്തെ ദേശീയ മാധ്യമങ്ങളിൽ സർവ്വേ റിപ്പോർട്ടുകളിൽ സൂചന നൽകിയത് പോലെ തന്നെ ഇടത് കക്ഷികൾ വലിയ തോതിലുള്ള മുന്നേറ്റം നടത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ആകെ മത്സരിച്ച 29 സീറ്റുകളിൽ 16 സീറ്റുകളിൽ വിജയിക്കുകയും 6 മണ്ഡലങ്ങളിൽ രണ്ടാം സ്ഥാനത്ത് എത്തുകയും ചെയ്തും അതിൽ മൂന്നിടങ്ങളിൽ 500 ൽ താഴെ വോട്ടുകളുടെ വ്യത്യാസമേയുണ്ടായിരുന്നുള്ളൂ.
ഇടത് പക്ഷകക്ഷികളുടെ ഈ വിജയം വരാനിരിക്കുന്ന പശ്ചിമ ബംഗാൾ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിനെ എങ്ങനെ ബാധിക്കുമെന്നാണ് ചർച്ചയാവുന്നത് .ബംഗാളിൽ കോൺ ഗ്രസിന് പിന്തുണ കൊടുക്കാനുള്ള സി പി എം തീരുമാനത്തെ സി പി ഐ (എം എൽ ) വളരെ രൂക്ഷമായി തന്നെ ഇതിനകം തള്ളികളയുകയുണ്ടായി
അഖിലേന്ത്യ തലത്തിൽ അഞ്ച് പാർട്ടികളാണ് ഇടത് ഫ്ലാറ്റി ഫോമിലുള്ളത്
CPI(ML) CPM, CPl, RSP, ഫോർവേഡ് ബ്ലോക്ക് ചില പൊതു മിനിമം പരിപാടിയുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ ഇവർ യോജിച്ച് പോകുന്നു .

ബംഗാളിലും സമാനമായ സാഹചര്യം തന്നെയാണ് ഉള്ളത് കോൺഗ്രസ് അനുദിനം ക്ഷയിക്കുന്നു അവരോടപ്പം യോജിച്ച് നിൽക്കാനാണ് CPM പറയുന്നത് പക്ഷേ മറ്റ് ഇടത് പാർട്ടികൾ മമ്മതയോപ്പം നിൽക്കുകയും ബി ജെ പിയുടെ വരവിനെ തടയണം എന്ന നിലപാടിൽ തന്നെയാണിപ്പോഴും.
