ഒരാഴ്ച പിന്നിടുമ്പോഴേക്കും പത്രങ്ങളിലും നവമാധ്യമങ്ങളിലും വാർത്തകൾ പടർന്നപ്പോൾ നാട്ടുകാരിൽ ചിലർ വൃദ്ധയെ തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു. പോലീസിൻെറ നിർദ്ദേശപ്രകാരം അമ്മയെ കൂട്ടാൻ മകൻ വൃദ്ധ സദനത്തിലെത്തി.
മകനെ കണ്ട വൃദ്ധ അവനെ തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞില്ല. അവനോടൊപ്പം പോകാൻ കൂട്ടാക്കാതെ ബഹളം വയ്ക്കുകയും വാശി പിടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. വൃദ്ധ കിടക്കയിൽ നിന്നെഴുന്നേറ്റ്, വൃദ്ധ സദനത്തിലെ അന്തേവാസികളുടെ അടുക്കലെത്തി, അവർക്കൊപ്പം സംസാരിക്കുകയും പരസ്പരം കൈകൾ ചേർത്തുപിടിച്ച് ആശ്വാസിപ്പിക്കുകയും കരയുകയും ചിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന അമ്മയെ കണ്ട് ആ മകൻെറ കണ്ണുകൾ നിറഞ്ഞു.
കുറച്ചു വർഷങ്ങളായി അമ്മയുടെ ഓർമ്മകൾ മങ്ങാൻ തുടങ്ങീട്ട്. തിരക്കുകളിലേക്ക് ഒഴുകാൻ തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ താനും അമ്മയെ മറക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. ഭക്ഷണവും മരുന്നും നൽകാൻ മറക്കാത്ത താൻ ഒരല്പം സമയം അമ്മയോട് ചേർന്നിരിക്കാൻ മാറ്റി വച്ചില്ല.
ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ടുപോയ അമ്മയുടെ ചിന്തകൾ കൂടുതൽ ചിതറുവാൻ തുടങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. ആരുമായും ഒരു വാക്ക് പോലും മിണ്ടാതെ, ശൂന്യമായ രാവുകളും പകലുകളും താണ്ടി പൊയ്ക്കൊണ്ടേയിരുന്നു..!
അങ്ങനെയൊരു പകലിലാണ് വൃദ്ധ ചുറ്റുമതിരുകളുടെ ഉയരങ്ങളിൽ ഭയക്കാതെ വീട്ടിൽ നിന്നും പുറത്തേക്കിറങ്ങിയതും ; പക്ഷികളും പ്രകൃതിയും സംസാരിക്കുന്ന, നിറമുള്ള കാഴ്ച്ചകളിലേക്ക് നടന്നകന്നതും.
