പാരമ്പര്യ വൈദ്യത്തെ നിയന്തിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള യാതൊരു വിധ നിയമവും ഇന്നേവരെ പാർലമെന്റ് നിർമ്മിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.1945ലെ ഡ്രഗ്സ് &കോസ്മറ്റിക്സ് ആക്ടിലെ സെക്ഷൻ 33(EEC)പ്രകാരം പാരമ്പര്യവൈദ്യൻമാർക്ക് രോഗികൾക്ക് ആയുർവേദ സിദ്ധ യുനാനി ഔഷധങ്ങൾ നിർമ്മിച്ചു നൽകുന്നതിന് ലൈസൻസ് ആവശ്യമില്ല എന്ന് വ്യക്തമായി പ്രതിപാദിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. 2018ൽ ഈ നിയമത്തിൽ ഭേദഗതി വരുത്തിയപ്പോഴും ഈ വകുപ്പ് മാറ്റിയിട്ടില്ല.കേരളത്തിൽ ട്രാവൻകൂർ കൊച്ചി മെഡിക്കൽ കൗൺസിലിൻെറ ഗവേണിംഗ് ബോഡിയിൽ പാരമ്പര്യവൈദ്യൻമാരെ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തണമെന്നമെന്നും നാട്ടവൈദ്യ ഒറ്റമൂലി വിഭാഗത്തിൽ പെട്ട പ്രതിനിധിയെ സർക്കാർ നോമിനേഷൻ നടത്തണമെന്നും നിയമത്തിൽ പറയുന്നുണ്ട്.
