ബീജമായി ഞാൻ രൂപം കൊണ്ടപ്പോഴും
അമ്മയുടെ ഉദരത്തിൽ ഞാൻ വളർന്നപ്പോഴും,
അറിഞ്ഞില്ല ഞാൻ ആര് എന്ന സത്യം.
ഒരുനാൾ ആരോ എന്നെ പുറത്തെടുത്തു,
അന്ന് എൻ ജനനം
രേഖപ്പെടുത്തി.
പെണ്ണ് !പെൺകുഞ്ഞിവൾ, ഞാൻ
വെറുമൊരു പെണ്ണായിരുന്നു.
കൂട്ടം കൂടിനിന്നവർ എല്ലാം പറഞ്ഞു,
അവൾ ഒരു പെണ്ണ്.
ഞാൻ മാത്രമല്ല, ഞാൻ പിറന്നുവീണ
ഭൂമിദേവിയെയും, പുഴയെയും, കടലിനെയും
അങ്ങനെ ജന്മം നൽകിയ എല്ലാത്തിനെയും
അവർ പെണ്ണെന്ന് വിളിച്ചു.
അല്ലയോ ഞാൻ ഒരു മനുഷ്യജന്മം അല്ലേ !
ഞാൻ വളരുംതോറും എനിക്ക് നൽകിയ
നിയമങ്ങളും ചട്ടങ്ങളും കൂടി സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യവും കുറഞ്ഞു.
ഉറക്കെ ചിരിക്കാനും പെണ്ണായ എനിക്ക് ആയില്ല.
പൂമ്പാറ്റകളെ എത്തിപിടിക്കേണ്ട പ്രായത്തിലും
കേട്ടു കഴുകന്മാർ കൊത്തിപിച്ചിച്ചീന്തും അല്ലയോ
നീ വെറും ഒരു പെണ്ണ് !
യൗവനം പടിവാതിക്കൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ
ലോകം ചുറ്റാൻ കൊതിച്ച എന്റെ മനസ്സിനെ
താലി എന്ന ചങ്ങല കൊണ്ട് പിടിച്ചു കെട്ടി.
ഒരുകാലം മകളായി പിന്നെ ഭാര്യയായി അവസാനം,
അമ്മയായി തേരാളിയായി അച്ഛനും പതിയും മകനും.
ഞാൻ വെറും ഒരു പെണ്ണ്, മരിക്കും വരെ,
ശബ്ദം ഉറക്കെയുയർത്താൻ വരെ കഴിയാതെ
പോയ വെറും ഒരു പെണ്ണ്.
പൊട്ടിച്ചെറിയാൻ ആകുമായിരുന്നു എനിക്ക് ആ
ചങ്ങലകളെ, പക്ഷെ ഈ ജന്മം ഞാൻ പരാചിതയായി.
താൽക്കാലികം എന്റെ ഈ വിടവാങ്ങൽ
വരും ജന്മം ഞാൻ പെണ്ണായി ജനിച്ചിടും,
തെളിയിക്കും ഞാൻ വെറുമോരു പെണ്ണല്ല.
തകർത്തിടും എനിക്ക് നൽകിയ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ
അല്ലയോ മനുഷ്യ നീ അറിയുക എന്റെ
ശരീരത്തിന്റെ താപത്തെ ചെറുത്ത്
തോല്പിക്കാൻ നിനക്കാവില്ല.
വരും കാലം നീയെന്നെ ഭയന്നീടും,
പറഞ്ഞിട്ടും അയ്യോ അവൾ ഒരു പെണ്ണ്.
ലോകം എന്നെ നോക്കി പറഞ്ഞിടും,
ഇവൾ വെറുമൊരു പെണ്ണല്ല ‘പെൺകരുത്തിവൾ’
