കേരളത്തോടൊപ്പം തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് നടക്കുന്ന കേന്ദ്ര ഭരണ പ്രദേശമായ പുതുച്ചേരിയുടെ ഭാഗവും കേരളത്തിനകത്തുള്ള മാഹിയിലെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് ചിത്രം മാറിമറിയുകയാണ്.
കോൺഗ്രസ്സായിരുന്നു ഭരണകക്ഷി ഒടുവിലത് എൻ ഡി എ യുടെ കൈകളിൽ എത്തി .
പുതുച്ചേരിയിൽ ഏറെ സ്വാധീനമുള്ള എൻ ആർ കോൺഗ്രസ്സ് എൻ ഡി എ യുടെ ഘടകകക്ഷി ആയതോടെ വലിയ പ്രതിസന്ധിയാണ് കോൺഗ്രസ് നേരിടുന്നത് .
